Snowboarding Mishap Claims Another Tour Player

It looks like Davis Love III is out for at least a few weeks, thanks to an injury sustained while snowboarding earlier last month.

“Love, the U.S. Ryder Cup captain for this fall’s biennial matches against the Europeans at Medinah, Ill., aggravated an old injury during the third round of last month’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. Speaking by phone from his home in Sea Island, Ga., Love pointed to a snowboarding accident March 9 as the likely source of the injury.”

For those not keeping track, that gives snowboarding a one-shot advantage over paddleboarding as it pertains to recreational activities putting players on the disabled list this season. Paul Casey became the first snowboarding victim back in January, as a dislocated shoulder sidelined him for the first 2 months of the season, and Lucas Glover sprained a ligament in his right knee while paddleboarding out in Hawaii, forcing him to miss the first two months of the Tour season as well.

Just last week Golf.Com reported in THIS STORY that Tour veteran Jesper Parnevik nearly severed his right index finger in a freak boating accident, as he accidentally got his hand caught in a motorized boat winch. Parnevik underwent surgery in Jupiter, Florida last Thursday and is expected to undergo at least 4 months of rehab. The 47-yr-old Swede has had a number of medical issues the past few years, including the need for hip replacement surgery back in 2009 and more recently learning that he had a broken lumbar vertebrae that was significant enough to be considered “career-threatening.” The nearly severed finger might be the injury that finally pulls the plug on his 26-yr career.
